Forever Valentine is an unreleased studio album by alternative country band Whiskeytown, recorded between their Strangers Almanac and Pneumonia albums. Although never officially released, just a quick Google search reveals that the album has made the rounds via several online file-sharing sites. On the Ryan Adams-Whiskeytown fan website AnsweringBell.com, Whiskeytown drummer Skillet Gilmore states that the "lost" album was recorded and mixed in one week around Christmas of 1997. Gilmore says that the idea behind Forever Valentine was for the band to quickly record and mix an entire album without their record label knowing about it.[1]
Three songs from the album would later see the light of day on official Whiskeytown releases: "Don't Wanna Know Why" and "Easy Hearts" were re-recorded for the band's swan song, Pneumonia;[2] while a live version of "I Don't Care What You Think About Me" would appear on the 2008 Deluxe Edition of Strangers Almanac.[3]
On AnsweringBell.com, the sessions' producer, Chris Stamey, mentions that Ben Folds played piano on the album.[4]
